We have studied genetic control of soybean photosynthesis of the progenies of the generative crosses and the relationship between soybean photosynthesis and some botanical charactais in the experiment, of generative crosses of different types of parents by using infrared CO2 analysis and other analyzers. We obtained the following results 1. Apparent photosynthetic rate (APR) of F1 presented significant differences. Low photosynthesis in different combinations may be either dominant or recessive. 2. The F2 APR values show a wide distribution which form a continuous single peak curve. APR is a character showing quantitative inheritance. 3. The range of variations of the generalized inheritability of F2 APR is from 43% to 60%. This shows that it is difficult toselect APR in F2 progenies. 4. The preliminary results indicate that heredity of APR may be controlled by both cytoplasmic and nuclear genes; the heredity of hill reaction activity presents maternal inheritance; the heredity of chlorophyll content in leaves of middle and lower layers has also the tendency of maternal inheritance. According to the experimental result, it could be considered preliminarily that the genetic character of photosynthetic activity supported to some extent the viewpoint of cytoplasmic-nuclear coordination and interaction of chlorophyll structure and function. 5. APR has a close positive relation with specific leaf weight (SLW), area nitrogen (AN), net photosynthetic productive rate (NPPR) and chlorophyll content during period of pod MenosWe have studied genetic control of soybean photosynthesis of the progenies of the generative crosses and the relationship between soybean photosynthesis and some botanical charactais in the experiment, of generative crosses of different types of parents by using infrared CO2 analysis and other analyzers.
